As is the case with any large building project, health and safety during the construction of this iconic new City skyscraper is a prime concern. At 62 storeys and standing at 278m tall, maintaining robust, reliable lines of communication throughout the structure is both challenging and essential.
Brentwood supplied a fleet of Motorola DP2400, DP4400 and DP4801e digital two way radios for use by crane operators, banksmen, slingers and on-site security staff. These high performance handsets were programmed with features including alarm monitoring and emergency override to help support safety and emergency protocols, and private and group calling so communications could be accurately targeted across the large workforce. We also included call recording for quality control and compliance monitoring.
To guarantee the required network coverage throughout the giant structure, we installed Motorola SLR5000 repeaters to increase signal transmission, supported by a distributed antenna system (DAS) throughout the building. Two way radios were supplied on a technically assigned license, ensuring exclusive access to airwave frequencies in the vicinity and so minimising the risk of interference. In recognition of the fact that construction is heavy work which takes its toll on equipment, we also included our Radiocare service and maintenance plan – making 22 Bishopsgate the tallest skyscraper in the City of London to benefit from Brentwood’s Radiocare.
